Established in 1895 by Dr. Albert Richmond, Richmond Dental Company is one of the oldest companies engaged in the manufacture of cotton pellets and other disposable cotton dental products. In 1947, Dr. Richmond decided to retire. Richmond Dental was sold to Barnhardt Manufacturing Company, whose division Carolina Absorbent Cotton had become the sole supplier of bleached cotton to the already 52 year old company.

Today, Richmond Dental is still supplied by Barnhardt and Carolina and still manufactures its signature line of Braided Cotton rolls and cotton pellets. But the Richmond product line has grown to include dispensers, Reflective Shields, face masks, and sponges.
